A Unique Trend in 2022 - Wine Cellars

2022 is the year of WINE! More and more home-owners and self proclaimed wine connoisseurs are looking to showcase their impressive collection of fine wines. Some owning hundreds of bottles that simply need to been shown off to be truly appreciated. Not only does it create a unique, and certainly rare element to your home, but it can also increase your home's value. Why? Well... most homeowners have a perception of 'high-end' design and often associate unique features like a custom wine cellar as a ' touch of class'. In a survey of home sales from the past few years, homes with wine cellars seem to sell 31% higher than those without. This is said to be the case because many home buyers perceive the person who owns a home with a wine cellar to be living a life of luxury... and who wouldn't want a similar lifestyle? Additionally as your home's value grows many neighborhoods and home buyers expect a flare of the unique. Something that allows a potential home buyer to feel special amongst their neighbors. Keeping up with the Jones' is a rat-race many enjoy running. ...But why a wine cellar? It's a relatively easy way to enhance your home. Whether you're adding it to a Kitchen project or simply filling up an empty room; it doesn't take much to add a custom wine cellar to your home. As long as materials are readily available, many custom wine cellars can be completed within a few days to a few weeks and may not require a permit from your local building department to complete... although we'd recommend you call and verify this with your local municipality. Can my home support a custom wine cellar? Short Answer; maybe. If your home is on the smaller size it may be difficult to find a spot that doesn't disrupt the flow in your home or create an awkward layout for how you and your family, or how a potential home buyer will live in the space. Space planning is important. There is a certain point when a home design becomes obnoxious simply because of size. If the home and it's rooms have no purpose it's hard for people to appreciate it's magnitude. Most home-owners looking to add a wine cellar to their property do so because they have unused space and don't know what to do with it. Whether it's apart of a larger project or the focus of a remodel, adding a wine cellar will bring purpose to a room as soon as the cases get unboxed. So... if you have an extra room in your home and are unsure what to do with it, DeLay Drafting and Design Solutions can find a way to make it worth while!
